Well, made it through another Inktober. Wheeeew, while I do enjoy the creative challenge, the timing rarely is great and the pressure of some people mentioning how much they are looking forward to it makes it a bit stressful. A few highlights here, nice to get a break from the computer and do something with my hands that’s tangible, I’m not complaining, but that Banksy quote "If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit” always rings true around this time. INKTOBER 2023
A little break from the ole’ computer screen. I look forward to daily doodles on cardboard and revealing a bit of corrugation each day in October, my wife typically isn’t as excited :). I did have the kids create some of their own art with me this year. Plenty of corrugated material this year as Rand Whitney supplied 4ft sheets of cardboard for use. A little less dumpster diving this time around. See more from the 2023 Inktober series on salvaged cardboard here.

THE CORRUGATED ART PAGE IS UP. MORE TO COME.
I got into drawing on cardboard as a quick break from al the on-screen work. I needed to get off the laptop and doing something tangible more often. I also assumed upping my illustration/art skills would also elevate my design work (being able to incorporate artist elments more often and think these in pixels and more in composition). Anyway, I had always planned on putting some of them online and getting some corporate work, starting a humanitarian campaign and taking a commission here and there if it wasn’t portraits of people’s kids. Anyway I need to find a way to get my time-lapse reel stuff on there, but you can see an overview of the type of stuff I’ve done so far and who knows where it goes.

THE BEST OF INKTOBER YEAR 2
Inktober year #2 is in the books for me. I followed the prompts with some illustrations last year and really enjoyed them forcing me off the computer to think creatively, quickly. Time is always my nemesis and while October was a challenging month between agency work, freelance, art, family, bad digestion, a quick trip to Myrtle Beach, ok whatever you get the idea. I was swamped, but really worth it and while my wife dreads October again next year. I’ll most likely be back once again.
