For this site redesign, I wanted to completely rethink how the user would interact/navigate the content. I don’t always get to do that. Many times, it’s more like putting lipstick on a pig, taking what’s there and making it look better, but in this case everything got blown up. Nobody has time to sift through lists 2 or 3 pages deep in the website to get to the actual job openings they are searching for. A typical user on this STS website wants to get opening information and application information ASAP and that meant bringing the job search/locations to the homepage. We created an interactive map that finds a users location and automatically serves up the potential openings in there area. Sure they can navigate the map to other districts and find other jobs, closest STS locations, etc. but also click to apply/ read descriptions and get the information they need with far less clicks. Adding other visuals for credibility, showing off the family business and local qualities that people would appreciate also added to the redesign. Having the social icons on the right sticky throughout the scroll and including an interactive event calendar for promoting their recruitment events also adds to the interaction. See some of the highlights below and click here to see the site all built custom on HubSpot for easy updates via HubDB tables (both feeds the map and content areas automatically for simplification). The back end of this one is awesome.
